Construction
Here at the Bead & Batten door, all of our doors are custom built. Depending on the type of wood you choose, our style of door suits traditional and contemporary homes, commercial buildings, timber frame homes, and rustic retreats.
The Bead & Batten Door is a handcrafted, all- wood, stile and rail, or plank design with vertical panels. The door is assembled using mortise, tenon and pegging, with fully floating joinery for natural movement of wood. 
We appreciate the character and beauty that wood doors brings to a home, but we also recognize that unlike machined, man-made products, wood does have a tendency to move. We like to make our customers aware of this, so they are not disappointed if the wood in their doors moves slightly over the years.
Finishing
There are several options for finishing your doors:
- Our doors are available sanded and ready for you to stain upon delivery.
- We will also be happy to coat the doors in a clearcoat of Skidmore's, which is a protective, all natural product made from beeswax.
- We work with a local custom finishing company, allowing you to have the finish of your choice.
Recycled Wood
We believe in building sustainably, which is one of the reasons we encourage the use of recycled wood when possible. If you haven't considered recycled woods, read more about why we think it's a good option.
